“When these events turn from peaceful demonstrations to groups of people lashing out in violence, we lose the initiative to create the change we demand.”
- Denver Mayor Michael Hancock

National Jesuit Student Leadership Conference
July 2016
(NJSLC) is a national leadership conference for students attending Jesuit universities. For five days each year, the conference brings together over 300 students from across the country. The students who attend are provided with unique opportunities for leadership development, personal growth, and networking among their peers. In addition, the attendees are also presented with opportunities to explore the locale of the host school and experience the local culture.
After a bidding process, a different school is selected to host the conference each year. A great deal of planning and organization is inherent in hosting a conference of this size, and the core aim of the conference is to be led entirely by students. The original purpose of the conference was to improve the student governments at each university. Now, though, the conference includes community service leaders, orientation staff, resident housing staff members, peer educators, club leaders, and even administrators.
Habitat for Humanity
Maui, Hawaii
March 2016
Joined a student-led trip to Maui with Habitat for Humanity. Spent nine days on the island serving the IAO Congregational Church and the surrounding community. We helped restore and clean up the church grounds as well as renovating a local World War II veteran's home to facilitate his physical needs.
